Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall Inspires Our Girl Scouts!
You may have seen a few cars driving around the neighborhood with this written in shoe polish recently. Our SU celebrated "Girl Scout Spirit Week" with fun themed activities each day to help bring us together AND bring awareness to the community about our great girls! These included "chalking" our neighborhood school sidewalks with positive Girl Scout messages, wearing our vests and Girl Scout T-shirts to school, "Going Green" with clothes AND by carpooling or walking/ riding to school, AND a great "Girl Scout Spirit" night at Andy's Frozen Custard. And of course, inviting more girls and families to become a part of SU 165!
This DFWChild article highlights just one of our SU troops that relies largely on financial assistance, giving great opportunities to EVERY Girl Scout!
SU 165 Participated in North Texas Giving Day and raised over $500 towards our "Family Partnership" Fund which helps makes the awesome GS GIRL-powered programming and leadership opportunities available to EVERY girl in our area, regardless of financial status.

"Spirit Night" at ANDY'S
We had SUCH a great turn-out for our first ever "Girl Scout Spirit Night" at Andy's Frozen Custard in Lake Highlands. Thanks to all the friends and family who came out to support us, we made $214 towards our "Family Partnership" Fund which offers financial assistance to families in our SU for Girl Scout costs and activities. And it was SO much fun to see everyone! Thanks to Jennifer Wetzel, our Family Partnership Coordinator, for organizing such a yummy event.
"You Can't Be What You Can't See".
That's why our SU165 Ongoing "3 C's" Speaker Series introduces our girl scouts to diverse women who are leaders in their communities, making a positive difference in the lives of others. When Renee Hall came to speak to us, we made her an honorary Girl Scout and she graciously answered each girls' question and stayed to pose for pictures. We are proud that she is the FIRST female Police Chief in the history of the 140-year-old DPD. Read the Article in The Advocate.

Over 30 gals and families from our Service Unit came out on a HOT 4th of July morning to march in the community celebration. Waving flags and sharing smiles, we were proud to show the importance of GIRL POWER here in the land of the free, and home of the brave! Afterwards, several girl scouts stayed to help sell refreshing watermelon slices to the hot crowd, earning money for our Service Unit.

Strengthening Brains AND Bodies at the STEM Center!
Girl scouts from 3 different SU 165 troops came together for a day of FUN and learning at Whispering Cedars STEM Center of Excellence, our Council's award-winning Girl Scouts camp hiding just south of downtown Dallas. In addition to challenging themselves with slingshots and the giant swing, climbing tower and zipline, these well-rounded Girl Scouts also challenged their brains. They earned badges for TI Rover programming, Coding for Good, Cyber-Cyphers, and Daisy Wobblebots! And they ended their fun day swimming in the AWESOME pool! We hope you'll join us next time.

If they don't win, it's a shame, for it's 1, 2, 3 strikes you're out at the old ball game!" Over 40 Girl Scouts representing Wallace and Lake Highlands Elementary Schools got to kick off the fun on the field at the annual teacher battle on the softball field. The gals received a patch, a box of Cracker Jack, AND made new friends....A good time was had by all!
